Personalised tutoring for children with special needs

Nathalie Apcher
Because every child is unique
Welcome to Unique Minds Tutoring where every child is supported to learn, grow and thrive as their authentic self.
With over 30 years experience across mainstream and special schools as well as Alternative Provisions,
I have dedicated my career to helping children feel understood, capable and confident. I have worked extensively in SEND, including SENDCo roles and have set up specialist Nurture and Forest school programmes for neurodiverse children, many with social, emotional and trauma-related needs.
My belief that neurodiversity is a natural human variation - not a disorder - sits at the heart of everything I do. I focus on providing children with the tools, strategies and emotional understanding they need to succeed in a way that feels safe, positive and meaningful to them.
After taking time away from teaching to homeschool my son and establish my own childminding business (rated outstanding twice), I returned to education with a renewed passion for true inclusion. Now through Unique Minds tutoring, I tutor and coach children in a warm, neuro-affirming way that builds confidence, emotional resilience and a love of learning.
Alongside running Unique Minds, I continue to work at Chickenshed Theatre - a true oasis of inclusion- and maintain my part time work as a SEND specialist in a Haringey school.
I bring all of this experience together to offer a holistic, relationship-centred approach that honours each child's individuality.
Parents, I know how tough it can feel—but you are not alone!

Testimonials
"Nathalie came into Aura's life at a very low point. She managed to change my parenting style in a really supportive and sensitive way. She modelled to me how to interact better and I started using widgits and routine boards in our everyday life. She helped me communicate with her school to make positive changes and I felt more empowered."
Besmira parent of 9 year old
"Nathalie Apcher worked with my child who was at risk of exclusion. She became such a big part of our lives and I think things might have taken a different turn without her. My son is now more confident and is completing his Level 2 functional skills."
Olivia parent of 16 year old
"Nathalie Apcher taught my daughter with Down syndrome for over 4 years. She really knew my child and managed to make her feel confident by giving her a voice. She gave her the tools to access learning better in a mainstream classroom."
Jo parent of 7 year old
"Nathalie worked with my son for over 5 years both at his school, leading a Forest School for children with SEMH challenges and at our home. She offered me invaluable support with the paperwork, applying for his EHCP and DLA. She was also a mentor and coach. She helped him to develop social skills and resolve issues with his peers. She was able to gain his trust and build a very strong relationship with him."
Hannah parent of 10 year old
"Whilst Nathalie Apcher was homeschooling her son, she liaised with professionals and successfully applied for and received an EHCP for him. She keeps meticulous records of his work. This is one of the best examples that I have ever seen of Elective Home Education."
